How does Botox work?

Like any shot, there is a slight prick when Botox is injected, but once the injection is complete there is the possibility of a mild discomfort that should subside within a few minutes. How does Botox compare to other products such as collagen and filler materials?

How many treatments are required?

When can I expect to see results after treatment?

Reduction in muscle activity in the treated area can typically be noticed within 48 hours, but it usually takes anywhere between 10-14 days for the maximum benefit to kick in.

Are there any limitations after treatment?

Yes. Touching the treated area within an hour of the procedure is not recommended. In fact, pushing on the treated area can actually cause a negative effect. However, normal activities can be resumed with little discomfort immediately following treatment.

Are there any risks or side effects?

Though rare (reported in about one percent of those treated), adjacent muscles can be affected. Droopy eyelids are probably the most common side effect. But any unwanted muscle relaxation would be temporary, and there are NO reports of any injuries to the eye during treatment.
